If you’re feeling particularly ambitious about travel plans in this new year, love history, and want to mark the sesquicentennial of the Civil War in a big way, consider joining Maine Historical Society on board the 138-passenger Yorktown in late May and early June.
The 10-day Echoes of the Past: Remembering the Civil War cruise, hosted by New York-based Travel Dynamics, Inc., will take participants to Civil War sites from Richmond to Savannah. On-board lecturers and expert local guides will provide a historical context for each stop along the way.
The Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts historical societies, and the American Antiquarian Society, join MHS as trip partners; the directors of all five organizations will be traveling with the group.
