On Saturday, August 4, from 10:30AM – 12:30PM, Maine Historical Society will once again sail around Casco Bay on the 88-foot schooner Wendameen, built in 1912, with a harbor historian as our guide. Don’t miss your opportunity to join us for this event–a perennial favorite!
While those on board enjoy the scenery–or help the crew raise the sails and take a turn at the wheel–Jim Millinger, Portland Harbor historian, former MHS Trustee, and Casco Bay Lines skipper, will talk about the harbor’s past and present. The cost is $40 for MHS members and $45 for non-members. Refreshments will be served.
The 88-foot Wendameen, designed by John Alden, one of America’s most celebrated yacht designers, was built in East Boothbay in 1912. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
